There's never been a better time to enroll your child in a safe, practical, and confidence building martial art in Georgetown, Texas.
At John's Gym Georgetown our Kids Martial Arts program is focused on Brazilian Jiu Jitsu where kids learn how to defend themselves, stand up to bullies, and develop a healthy body and positive mindset, but it's our Leadership Program focused on Self Discipline and Resiliency that sets our Kids Martial Arts program apart from others in Georgetown and surrounding areas.
Up until now, you, as a parent, have had to choose between a practical martial art that builds true confidence, and martial arts programs that don't really have the practical self defense aspect but good leadership programs. At John's Gym Georgetown, you get the best of both worlds; perhaps that's why our kids often win tournaments they enter while also training towards their Black Belt and growing into productive members of society. We have a great group of quality kids here at John's Gym Georgetown, schedule your free One-on-One session to find out how we can positively impact your child's life.
We recommend a complimentary lesson so that one of our instructors can evaluate a students' skill level, especially for our youngest students. We offer our Kids Martial Arts classes during the week with an open mat for kids on Saturdays.
I'm not sure I can accurately express the shift we have seen in Gavin.
He takes his time at Jiu-Jitsu seriously. He knows he has to work hard and smart every minute on the mats. The guidance provided by the coaches is remarkable! It transcends to life off of the mats as well. Thank you!

Kids Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Self Defense at John's Gym Georgetown
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, or BJJ, is known as Arte Suave or The Gentle Art because is uses leverage and technique, rather than strength to subdue your opponent. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu utilizes a Jiu Jitsu Gi / Kimono. Most fights are taken to the ground, and that’s where BJJ takes over. In Brazilian Jiu Jitsu there is no punching or kicking exchanges, opponents are subdued by joint locks and chokes. The goal of each rolling session is not to hurt your opponent, but to get him to the point where he must tap out. We teach our students to tap early and often (it's basically like saying, "uncle"). BJJ is a safe and fun way for your child to learn how to defend himself without having to throw punches or kicks.

The staff is friendly, easy to talk to and works with my son every step of the way. My son's confidence has grown throughout the two years he has trained with Georgetown BJJ. The instructors have encouraged him throughout classes and in tournaments to strive towards the next level. I appreciate everything they have done for us. Because of the great experience, we have enrolled our five year old daughter and she absolutely loves it! Thanks Georgetown BJJ!

Do you have classes for beginners?
Yes we do. Each one of our classes have techniques specifically for those that are brand new to the Martial Art, and we often have 2-3 instructors on the mat as well as our Leadership Program Kids helping our younger Martial Artists
Will my child get hurt?
Although we can't guarantee that there won't be some bumps and bruises along the way, rest assured that we have adequate staff at each class to ensure proper safety. Having said that, these are active martial arts, and with any sport/active martial art there are chances for your child to get some bumps and bruises. However, if you let us do what we do best, your child will come out the other side stronger and more determined than ever.
Will my child learn how to defend themselve?
Yes, absolutely. We focus on practical self defense martial arts. Rest assured your child won't be learning "theory" or "forms". There is no board breaking here, our kids are well prepared to handle any situation that arises and the parents feel safer and more secure knowing that their child has some tools to be able to defend themselves realistically.
Can my try a class first to see if they like it?
Yes. You can try a class for free by calling/TXTing us at 512-843-465. If you like the class and want to learn more about our programs and pricing we can talk afterwards, too.
Will other kids try and hurt my child?
We have a safe environment for all levels and ages, that's why we split our groups up by levels so you can feel safe that you're training with people that are at their level who are looking for a safe, fun, and beginner friendly training environment, too. We have a strict "no-bully" policy here.
Do the kids spar/roll during class?
Although not mandatory, all of our kids are encouraged to spar/roll with their teammates so they can get a practical realistic feel for the techniques they have been learning. We want them to apply what they learn in a safe environment with supervision so they can feel safer once they leave our doors.
